| things are busy, busy, busy... but I'm just so joyful right now. This weekend was absolutely amazing... It started out Friday night spending time with my girl Krista. She braved the mall with me to find a new suit for my job interview that I had today. We ended up finding the perfect outfit at Old Navy, and as excited as I was to finally find a nice dress outfit, it was just as nice to spend time with that girl. We came to the realization that if I do get the job at Spring Arbor University that I'll be moving, and we won't be getting an apartment together like we were planning on. It was kind of sad... but we aren't going to think about that until I know for sure I got the job. Saturday Krista and I headed to a seminar for BeautiControl, a new business adventure we are looking into... kind of like Arbonne or Avon, only it focuses on Spa treatment. It's really fun, and hopefully will be a good way to earn a little extra cash on the side. The seminar started at 8:30am and ended at 2:30pm, then I went home and got ready to go to a suprise party for my Grandma Donna. It was a really fun night with family that I hardly ever get to see. I haven't seen my grandma since last Thanksgiving, so it was fun to be a part of the suprise. About 30 of us gathered at a restaurant and awaited her arrival. She had no idea, and had the biggest reaction when she walked around the corner. (we were happy she has a strong heart! haha) After we ate dinner we all headed back to my Aunt Sharons for cake and ice cream- and it was good to talk with everyone, and even meet my new aunt to be! (my uncle Jerry is getting married... he's only a couple years older than me, so it's real funny to call his fiance my aunt) The next morning I taught Sunday school for the college age, and it was a really good class. I showed a Nooma video, which is a 10 min. video devotional series that is GREAT to get conversation rolling, and get people thinking. After church I came home and got in a nice Naz nap, and then later that night got ready to head down to SAU. I got down to SAU at about 8:00pm and called up my friend Josh so we could hang out for a little bit. We ended up going out to Chinese at my favorite Chinese restaurant... and I truly forgot just how much i missed that boy. Josh was always my go-to guy last year, and it was just so nice to be able to talk with him again. Gotta love them Noble boys! After I hung out with Josh for a couple hours I went over to say hi to Amanda before heading to Eileens, which is where I spent the night. I also got a call from my bestest best friend Trish, which just made my day, so I was feeling pretty good going to bed, and not really nervous at all about the interview I had in the morning. Which brings us to today! I woke up at 7am and got ready for my interview that was at 8:15am. I got to the office a little early (always good to be on time!) and I sat and waited. It was so good seeing all the people in the office. The secretary was excited that I was interviewing for the job, and wished me good luck. All the current admissions reps came out to say hi and were wishing me luck on my interview. They were really encouraging! The interview went really really well. I knew the two people who interviewed me, so it was a relaxed environment where we were just talking. All in all, I feel it went great, but there are some other people who interviewed for the open postitions, so we'll just have to wait and see. If I get the job, it will probably be starting before the end of the month, which means that I would be moving before the end of the month. That's kind of crazy to think about, but you know-- I am just praying about it. I would love to get this job, but if it is not where God wants me to be, then I will continue searching. Don't worry, I will continue updating on here as soon as i find out! I would appreciate your prayers!! I'm excited to see where God wants to take me next! | | |
| As I mentioned in my previous post, I sent in my application yesterday for the open Admissions Representative position at SAU. Well, today I got a call around 2:00pm from the University asking me if I could come in for an interview!!! So, I have an interview on Monday at 8:15am! :) YAY!!! | | |
| I've lost count of how many jobs I've applied for... my newest application that I sent out was today for an Admissions Representative position at my alma mater (SAU). I found out through my best friend Amanda that one of the Reps was going to be leaving and they were interviewing for her job. At first I wasn't really sure I wanted to apply for the position, but after talking to one of the admissions reps I decided that it wouldn't hurt to apply. I interned in the admissions office last year, so I know a lot about the job already- and I found out later that there are now two admissions representative positions opening up... which means a better chance of getting hired! haha. We'll see... you know- all I can do is put out the applications with a prayer and let God take it from there! | | |
| What an amazing weekend... seriously, I needed it so bad. It all started out on Thursday when I drove down with my mom and two other ladies from church to Olivet Nazarene University to see my favorite girl Katie. We left early in the morning and took our time, stopped to eat and shop, and then went to our hotel. We got into our room, which was a double twin bed room, and the first thing I always do is look at the sheets to make sure they are clean. (may be anal, but you'd be suprised what you find sometimes!) So the sheets on my bed had dirt marks all over them, and so did the other bed, so we called the front desk to inform them- I mean, we didn't pay $124 for nothing! To make up for the inconvenience they upgraded our room to a queen bed suite with a pull out couch and hideaway bed, two tv's, a lot more room, and even threw in a free movie. Now that's what I call upgrade! After that we all got ready and headed the rest of the way to ONU and we got there around 7:00pm and got to see Katie before she headed out to get ready for the night. I missed that girl so much... seriously, I wish we could've spent more time together! The coronation started at 8:30, and Katie looked absolutely beautiful. At the end of the night, the homecoming queen was announced, and the winner was Katie!!! WHOO HOO!!! I was so happy for her-- I just kept yelling, "Yeah Kathy!!!" haha. She was so precious, and her flowers and cape were bigger than she was. She was completely shocked that she won, but we all knew she was the winner. She won not just because of beauty or popularity, but because people saw Christ within her-- seriously, Katie is one of those girls that you don't meet often, where you never forget her because you see her beauty in Christ. Love her so much! We left afterwards and went back to the hotel room and I enjoyed our free movie while all the other ladies went to bed. I ended up watching "No Reservations"- which was really good, but to rent the movie it was $10.99!! So glad it was a free rental! haha. We went home the next day and it was a long trip, but it was totally worth it because we got to stop to Chick-fil-a for lunch, which is my most favorite restaurant when I'm outside of Michigan. Friday night after I got home I called up Krista and we went on a last minute run to Flint because I had to return some clothes to Kohl's and do some other stuff. Even though we just saw eachother a week before, it seemed like it had been forever since we had seen eachother. It was really good to spend some time with her. On Saturday I woke up and packed my suitcase again to head down to my alma mater (Spring Arbor) to spend some time with my best friend Amanda. I got there around noon and we had some lunch, talked alot, laughed alot, watched a couple movies, ran to Kohl's, cuddled!, watched some tv, talked some more, ate dinner, chilled with her housemates, watched another movie, went for a 7-11 run for slurpees, went for a walk around the P-Loop, and then came back to spend some more time. It was a fun day of relaxing and just spending good quality time together--- and it was so good. I missed that girl so much!! We woke up the next morning and got ready for church. We went to Jackson Nazarene, which my church when I went to college at SAU, and it was an amazing service. I really missed that church! Afterwards we made lunch and then I left with Krista to go to our friend Corwin's art show. It was the biggest turnout for an art show that I've ever seen-- and his art was simply amazing. I wish I had money so I could buy some of it, but who knows, maybe he'll give me a deal because I'm a friend! haha. It was so much fun going because we got to see alot of our friends that we hung out with last year at college. We had our whole dinner group together which were about 10 people that we always had family dinners with-- and it really made me miss them all! We decided that we are going to get together after Thanksgiving sometime to have a reunion family dinner. :) After the show I went back to Amanda's to say goodbye, and then stopped by my roomate from last year's room to say hi real quick before I left to go home. It was so good talking with Eileen-- didn't realize how long it's been since we talked, and I didn't want to leave-- missed that girl so much! After all that I drove home just in time to make it to our college age hang-out. It was a really fun night with food, hot chocolate, RED VINES!!!, games, and fellowship. Even tho there wasn't a huge turnout, it was nice to spend time with the people that were there, and get teased by the guys like usual. Then after all that fun, I finally went home and crashed into bed, Thanking God for such an amazing weekend of fellowship- but simply exhausted! Let's just say, I slept like a rock last night! So... that was my weekend- a packed one and a fun one. Now it's the beginning of a new week and I'm hoping and praying that I hear back from some of the jobs I applied for. I applied for my first job outside of Michigan yesterday, so we'll see how that goes. All right- gotta go teach the kiddies up to church for the Kidventure University. Have a beautiful day! | | |
| Still no news on the job-- just an update. I called on Monday (3 weeks after my interview) and they told me that they still hadn't made a decision yet, and they were going to be having more interviews. Looks like it's going to be another couple weeks before they make a final decision. SO- I'm still going to wait to hear back from them, but in the mean time I'm applying to other jobs. I called on a job today at a Real Estate office, and they said they'd love to see my resume, so we'll see if anything comes of that. I'm not gonna lie... these past couple days have been quite discouraging from me... my patience is running real low. I know I'm going to look back on this time in my life someday and just laugh at how impatient I am being, but right now it's just frustrating. In other news, I have some exciting days ahead for me. Tomorrow morning I'm leaving for Olivet Nazarene University to cheer on my girl Katie (she's on the Homecoming court) and then coming back home Friday. Then Saturday I'm heading to Spring Arbor University to celebrate my best friend Amanda's birthday, and on Sunday going to my friend Corwins art show. It's going to be so much fun, and I think it'll be really good for me to just get away and get my mind off of things. Yay for roadtrips!! | | |
